After we spent the night in a hotel last week we continued on with our mini-vacation.
Travis had to head to meetings until noon, so the kids and I made our way to the zoo.
We pulled into the parking lot and there were seriously no more than ten cars parked there.
The zoo workers said that weekdays during the school year are usually empty.
And that was the truth!
It felt like we had the entire zoo to ourselves.
If there's one thing you should know about me it's that I am not a huge fan of the zoo.
I never have been.
I think it's a mix between the fact that I'm not a big animal person
and the fact that we usually go when it's blazing hot.
So for me to say that I LOVED this zoo trip is a big deal :)
We had the best time.
The kids were on cloud nine the entire time!
We went through the whole zoo before Travis got there at noon.
Once he arrived we took a break for some lunch.
And then did the whole zoo all over again.
This little jewel didn't make a peep the whole time.
She just took in all the sights and would cat nap off and on.
Emma was the queen of the map.
I told her she could guide us through the zoo.
She took her job very seriously:)
This tiger was a little on the creepy side.
It would walk in a big circle and then stop and look at the kids.
And when it looked at them it would lay back it's ears and show it's teeth.
We didn't stay at this exhibit too long;)
The bird exhibit was hands down my favorite part of the day.
I normally don't go into the bird exhibit because I'm not a big fan of birds flying around my head.
Travis persuaded me to come and join everyone this time.
And I am so glad I did!
It was the COOLEST!
I think we all could have stayed in there for hours.
The big two loved feeding the birds.
Cade on the other hand was super stingy with his seed stick.
He kept hiding it behind his back and swatting at the birds who would try to get it.
It was such a sweet time.
And I daresay it made me love the zoo just a little bit?
I never thought I'd say that:)
Hope your Monday was a great one!
How was your weekend?!
