A few weeks ago I wrote a post about how I try to keep my kids healthy during the winter months.
And then I wrote another post with a fun recipe to make when my kids have the sick day blues.
Let's just face it.
When it's winter time the "sick day blues" happen more than once.
There are only so many movies you can watch and books you can read.
Eventually you need a fun activity to do inside.
And preferably one that takes up a nice amount of time.
So how about a fun little activity that includes a craft PLUS a game at the end.
(I have to give full credit for this activity to my sister and mom.
They helped the kids make the first round of Memory cards while I was in the hospital having Eloise!)
My kids love to create.
Especially with paper and crayons.
So this activity was right up their alley!
We began by cutting squares of paper.
Then I gave each kid two squares with instructions to create the same picture on both pieces of paper.
Emma had no problem recreating her picture twice.
Colt on the other hand is my free spirit and had a hard time making the same thing twice.
He was all about adding extra doodles
Once they had finished creating the game pieces we turned the papers over.
The paper that we used and had on hand was plain white computer paper.
Some of the images that we drew showed through a bit so we drew lines on the back of each paper to disguise the images a bit.
Next time we will try to use card stock paper to prevent the images from showing through.
The activity as a whole from start to finish took up most of our morning.
A little arts and crafts time plus game time
makes the "sick day blues" disappear around here.
And when they need just a little extra help in feeling better I make sure to use Children's Mucinex!
Good good stuff I tell ya.
It makes their congestion disappear.
And when their little noses aren't stuffed up it makes for a much happier kid.
And a happy kid equals a happy mama over here
