Trip to the North Pole

The Christmas season was officially kicked off this weekend with a trip to the North Pole.
We rode a train...sipped hot'd and ahhh'd over beautiful lights...
listened to Christmas music...saw a live nativity scene and rode through Santa's workshop.
I don't think I've ever seen all three of my kids so excited at the same time.
The only part of the evening that didn't feel like the holidays was the 75 degree weather.
Texas has obviously not gotten the memo that it's supposed to be chilly with snow flurries.
How was your weekend?
Did you do anything to kick off the month of December?!

  1. that looks like a ton of fun!

  2. Awwww...I love wonderful!!!! I wish we had something like that here. You can see the magic in your kids eyes!!

  3. We didn't do anything Christmas-y yet! However- we plan to take a drive through our local 'Christmas in the park'! It is a blast.. And the lights are amazing!! Kansas City apparently didn't get the memo that December is here either-- it was 70 degrees here today! 'Im dreaming of a white Christmas' (insert beautiful singing voice) :)

  4. so sweet. looks like your kiddos had a lot of fun (even if it wasn't cold and snowy).
i mean, even iowa had 70 degree weather today...this is just weird!

  5. There is a permanent drive through city of Bethlehem display in my hometown that has been up for probably over 70 years, it is only open during the Christmas season has been maintained by several groups in town throughout the years and the land is probably privately owned. My dad recalls helping to repaint and clean it up when he was young. It is mostly made of lighted plywood cutouts painted to look like people and scenes. They play music on speakers throughout the display as you drive through it and there are stations to stop at and each has a paragraph of scripture to read telling the story of the birth of Christ. It is up against a mountainside and I can distictly remember my favorite scene where there are angels that light up in sequence and it looks like they are coming down the mountain through the trees. I have not seen anything like it in any other town I've been in, I don't live in my hometown anymore and just describing it makes me miss it so much. I have come across a few people who have moved from the area talking about it online and they have suggested that someone go and video it and post it on youtube so that those of us who don't live there anymore can show it to our kids...I think I might do that next time we go back there. Anyways...that was a tradition that we used to do when I was a kid. I remember also, it was at the top of a hill and you had to drive through a residential area to get there, all the way up the hill, there were lighted plywood cutouts placed here and there of cartoon characters, before you got to the City of Bethlehem displays. It was something special for sure and I guess now that I'm thinking about it, I had better video it soon because things like that are starting to disappear. Looks like you guys had fun at Santa's workshop, it is so awesome to see the kids faces all lit up and excited about Christmas!!!

  6. Awww, this looks like so much fun! I know what you mean about the weather, it's not cooperating, but soon! :) Would love if you'd join our Countdown to Christmas link party! Hope to see you there! Have a great week! :)

  7. how fun! and emma's hair is getting sooo long!

  8. Oh it just looks so magical! I just love this time of year. So magical and filled with hope. And such a blessing when you have babies to spend it with.
