A few weeks ago I found this sweet little owl pin at the thrift store.
I snagged him up for a whopping fifty cents!
I sent a pic of him to my mom and she loved him as much as I did.
I thought it would be fun for him to get out and about.
So my mom and I will be sending him back and forth every month.
This month Hooty made an appearance on my necklace Easter Sunday.
I'm excited to see where he appears at my mom's house :)
I'll keep you updated.

Have I told you guys about my sweet Emma protesting pants?
She will NOT wear pants without pitching a royal fit.
Every. Single. Time.
Every. Single. Time.
Jeans, shorts, leggings.
Anything that is not a dress creates a royal fit out of her.
I can guarantee that if you see her anywhere on the blog

I can guarantee that if you see her anywhere on the blog
wearing one of those items I can promise you she rolled around on the ground
for a good thirty minutes crying about it.
:)
After battling her on it almost every day I have packed up almost all of
her jeans, shorts and leggings.
Everything but two shorts outfits that I think are darling.

I have been busy the past week sewing her new play dresses.
My mom has been so sweet and has sewn her a few new dresses as well.
And what I love most about the dresses my mom has sewn is they have pockets!

So of course I've sewn pockets into the ones I've been making.
The perfect little spot to hold her treasures :)
Do any of you have kids who refuse to wear certain items of clothing?
I'd love to hear about it :)

Sophie refuses to wear ruffle pants...she calls them "fat pants"...it makes me sad b/c they are soo cute (in my opinion)! :)
ReplyDeletethat pin is such a great find!! kinda jealous :)
ReplyDeleteAhhh, adorable pin and the pocket dress looks soooo sweet! I so need to learn how to sew...but knowing NOTHING about it makes it seem too overwhelming!
ReplyDeleteI found your blog through Ms. Casey Wiegand. I'm so glad i did!! Such a cute blog, and I absolutely love it. :) I'd like you to know that I'm featuring your blog button on my blog this month. :)
ReplyDeleteThat pin is seriously awesome.. so fun that he's getting to explore the world with you :) Yay for thrift store finds!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteWhen my youngest daughter was about four, threw a fit every single day about it too. It had to be a skirt, or a dress or she wasn't getting dressed. She is also the one who is more into princesses and such, while my other one is more of a tomboy. I think it's cute and it was just a stage while she still prefers a dress over pants, she will wear them off to school now, which is good because once kindergarten started, it was hard to have dresses ready every day :)
ReplyDeleteI also have a daughter who refuses pants. Especially jeans. She will wear leggings, but only if paired with a skirt or a dress. She is also very particular about how her clothes fit though. Nothing too loose or baggy. She is 5. I can't imagine 15!
ReplyDeleteI used to keep a little girl name Maia. She was the prissiest little thing. She would lose it if her socks wawded up in her shoes. Literally panic over it. Eventually it got so bad that she stopped wearing socks all together. Now. It's stockings too. So she walked down the aisle at my wedding as my barefoot flower girl because she refused socks or stockings. :)It might have been "my day" but you wouldn't have known it ;)
ReplyDeleteI love the vintage owl. My daughter more tries for looks, she wants to look like a rock star or vintage like Anne of Green Gables..etc..
ReplyDeleteMine refuses anything but 'soft pants'. Which in my terms are yoga pants. He would prefer a pair of knit shorts over khaki/plaid/camo any day. And. He's 2. Lord help me. However, I have started distracting him while I"m changing his clothes and somehow we manage to get out the door without knit shorts on!
ReplyDeleteGood luck, but at least she looks adorable in all your dresses!
I'd like to see how you do pockets. I"ve made myself several dresses and would LOVE to put pockets on teh outside but not sure how to do it.
such a beautiful and creative way to use your new hooty brooch!
ReplyDeleteAw, love that little owl! And how great is it to find treasures like that at the thrift store? It's like treasure hunting!
ReplyDeleteAnd I laughed out loud reading that she won't wear pants. You've certainly got a girly-girl on your hands :)
Thanks for your sweet comment on my blog! I love finding new blogs like yours...your photography is gorgeous.

I saw your blog through one of my childhood friends and just love reading about your cuties. I have a little one that will only wear tutus not even dresses will do. We have huge fits as well but here is my little trick and it works. I have a calendar in her room her very favorite calendar full of all of her Wizard of Oz buddies and each week we determine the days that are tutu days. She can choose two tutu days a week and she puts a sticker on those days. On the other days we 1st go to the calendar and check off the day, see that it isn't a tutu day and pick a color that we will both be wearing. It is perfect for her because it gives her the idea that she is still in control plus it helps me to figure out what the heck I am going to wear. My little one is 3 1/2 so around the same age I believe. Best of luck!!!
ReplyDeleteMy oldest daughter went through that exact same stage a few years back. She eventually outgrew it - though she still prefers dresses to pants to this day.
ReplyDeleteLove that you got such a steal on your little owl! I got some great owl necklaces from my grandmother after she passed away last fall, and they've been so much fun to wear!
My oldest son will NOT wear jeans. He HATES jeans. He only wants to wear, and I quote, "comfies". Sigh.
ReplyDeleteLandree is the exact same way! For a good year or more dresses are what she wants. Last fall I returned almost everything I bought for her and got dresses that we could add leggings underneath when it got cold. She just hates pants!
ReplyDeleteLove your outfit and your owl! Great idea pinning it on your necklace!
ReplyDeleteAwesome post, I want to check out a couple of your other messages. Thank you!
