Mornings, Walks, Shopping & Ads

My babies are all sleeping in this morning.
I woke up at 6 to make Travis breakfast and to send him on his way.
Some mornings (okay most mornings) I crawl back into bed and sleep until the kids wake up.
I used to be a morning person.
Before I had three kids back to back.
Then I turned into a night owl...which definitely doesn't go hand in hand with a morning person.
The past few mornings instead of going back to bed I have been making myself a cup of coffee and doing my quiet time before the kids get up.
I honestly had forgotten how glorious it is to be up before the kids!!!
The past few months I have been doing my quiet time during naptime.
Which worked great.
I felt alert and awake.
As opposed to 6:30 in the morning.
I'm a firm believer in the fact that you can have your quiet time at any point during your day.
But back to the fact that I am feeling my old "morning person" coming back :)
I'm liking it and I'm thinking it might stick for awhile.
We'll see.
We all know how I am with sticking to something;)
Moms with little people...I'm curious.. are you a morning person or a night owl?
Have your kids changed you?

The other night we went for a walk down by the lake.
I love that we're usually split into two groups...

the group that runs on ahead and is full of adventure...

and the group that just takes it all in and enjoys watching the craziness:)

Two little bits of business before I wrap this up.
I've just finished cleaning out my closet and pulling out everything
that I either don't wear or doesn't fit anymore.
I always get a good laugh out of the wide range of sizes I have in my closet.
College sizes, after have baby sizes, in the middle of losing weight sizes.
You name it and I'm sure I've got it.
So anyways.
On Friday I will be having a Shop My Closet sale here on the blog.
Make sure you come and shop. :)

And the last order of business.
I have ONE feature ad spot left for the month of April.
(only three were available)
All the information can be found here.
I would love to help you promote your blog/business!

Have a great Wednesday friends!

  2. I love the idea of getting up early, but when I go to bed late it is HARD! Can't really be a morning person and a night owl. :/ I'm really trying to work on it.
Your blog is totally gorgeous- I love the design!!!! You've probably had it for a while and I have failed to notice. :( I've been so bad with keeping up with everyone!! I need more time, but don't we all. :)
    Have a great day, Ashley!

  3. Hi Ash! How are you? It has been way to long! I love following your family on your blog. I am a night owl for sure! Although I am finding it is nice to have a few minutes of calm before the kids wake up. P.S. I have a Colt as well!

  4. I always have good intentions of getting up early, but right now it seems that I'm going to bed as soon as I can and getting up as late as i can! ha! Guess that might have something to do with still trying to navigate these motherhood ropes!

I need to be better about getting up when my husband gets up so I can start my day off right!

  6. I have become a night person too - since my 2 and 3 year old don't nap anymore night time is when I get to catch up on housework and any relaxing! That time before the kids wake up is such a peaceful time though!

  7. Hmmmm....I guess it depends on the day of the week. Weekends, I stay up late and get up early...week nights, I'm about 10pm and get up early...but WISH I could sleep in. Work just really isn't that exciting to get up to!

  8. I've definitely become a night person. It's my time that I don't have to rush to do things, I can do what ever I want and take my time! I'm usually sleeping in all the way up until the baby wakes up. But, peaceful mornings to start your day sound so good. :)) Btw-your babies are just precious!

  9. I used to be a night owl before my girls came along, but now I am totally a morning person! I feel like I have so much more energy in the morning, but I have my quiet time when the kiddos take their nap. It just seems to work out best that way!

  10. Morning person now! I used to be a night owl big time but I have found myself enjoying the quiet more when the hubby leaves for work and the baby is still asleep. Yes i might still take a nap when he lays down for his morning nap but hey all the laundry and dishes are still there when I wake up=) The picture of Travis and Colt with the fish WOW those two look identical!! My son looks exatly like his daddy but everyone says they can see me in there somewhere =) Cant wait for the sale!

  11. Oh I love quiet time as well. Haven't tried getting up before them yet but can imagine having a cup of coffee in peace and quiet first thing in the morning must be heaven! I shall try this out SOON!
Your daughters braids are gorgeous, wish I could do the same with my little peanuts hair!

  12. 1. Cant wait to shop your closet!
    2. I used to be a morning person. I guess, really, I still am. 7 is sleeping in for me. My kids are all early risers and have a (often times annoying) inner clock that they got from their mamma. They have started sleeping till 7, but for a while, we were always up by 6 or 630. Vauaghan is often up that early still. No matter what time they go to bed, they are up and at em. Unless they go to bed super late, and then they are up earlier. Ben is a night owl so I try to stay up with him so we can have time together, but we are gonna have to figure something out because this pregnant, homeschooling mamma of four just can't stay up late and get up early.
    3. Quiet time......sooo important. Some days I get it, some I dont. Hoeschooling has kinda put a kink in that. :) Now the "big" ones are home all day and do not take naps.

  13. Can't wait to shop your closet!

It's always my intention to get up early, but when that alarm goes off, I have the hardest time rolling out of bed. I do love the days when I get up just a little earlier and have some time to relax by myself.

  14. It's amazing how much us moms took sleep for granted before having kiddos! :P I've always been more of a night person but it hasnt been that hard to adjust getting up earlier with my munchin every day :) Love the lake pictures!
