{Fall Tree with Glitter Acorns} Tutorial

Hello friends!
I'm excited about today's tutorial!
I love making things to decorate my home.
What I do not love is spending alot of money on decorations.
I am very passionate about the fact that you don't need alot of money to make your home look nice.
USE WHAT YOU HAVE!
Be creative!

"Necessity is the mother of invention"

I used everything I had in and around my home for this project.
It cost me $0.

My plan is to keep the tree up all year long.
The fun part is it's easy to change out banners and decorations for different holidays/seasons.
Another thing I love about it is it's something the kids and I can decorate together.
This time around they helped me find the acorns for the ornaments.
I'm thinking we might eventually add a garland made of candy corn?!?
So here ya go... it's about the easiest thing you'll ever make...trust me!

{TREE}

SUPPLIES
~Branches
~Spray paint
~Old Vase or container
~Newspaper or something to stuff in your vase
~Fabric
~Ribbon
1. Find a few nice sticks/branches.  Preferably with lots of little sticks coming off of them.
It makes for more areas to hang things!

2. Spray paint your branches white.
Or really whatever color you prefer!
Use what you have!

3. I stuck my branches into an old glass vase I had lying around.
I then stuffed newspaper in the vase around the branches to help sturdy them.

4. Wrap your vase.
I used burlap because that's what I had.
Get creative!
You could use any fabric you have lying around.
Perhaps some newspaper.
Or an old pillowcase. :)

5. I tied the burlap up with a ribbon.
You could make a large bow if you prefer.
I didn't care for my ribbon so I chose to hide most of it underneath the burlap.

6. For my "Thanks" banner I simply cut triangles of burlap and drew the letters on with permanent marker.
I couldn't find any string I cared for in my craft drawer.
So I pulled one out of one of my favorite blankets :)
I'm telling you... make it work!!!
USE WHAT YOU HAVE!
I seriously wandered around the house hunting for something in the string color I was wanting.
Try it.
I think you'll be surprised at what you can come up with!

7. Glue the triangles onto your string.

7. Tie your banner on and voila!
Your tree is completed!
Now for the Glitter Acorn Ornaments...

{GLITTER ACORN ORNAMENTS}
SUPPPLIES
Glue
Acorns
Glitter
Fishing Line

I did my acorns a little backwards... so I'm going to tell you the way I wished I had done them!

Begin by hot gluing loops of fishing string to the top of each acorn.
Thus creating a hanging acorn.

NOW...
1. Pour your glue into a bowl for easier dipping

2. Dip the bottom half of your acorn in glue.

2. Sprinkle or dip your acorn in glitter!!!
The more the better!

3. Hang your glittered acorns on the tree to dry :)
Easy Peasy!!!

  14. this is adorbs!

and btdubs, did you know that little grubs live in the acorns? they come out...and are DEE-sgusting. so apparently you have to freeze the acorns overnight then use them.

so ya...maybe the glitter will kill them. LOL
