Great is His faithfulness and provision

I promise I'll finish up the all the questions you had asked later in the week.
But for today I felt the need to talk about the Lord and His faithfulness and provision for our family.
I've been thinking about this for the past couple of months or so.
Really since we've moved to our new town.
Then earlier today I received an e-mail from my new blog friend, Laura over at Splendor.
(you must read her blog and story.. she is amazing.)
Her husband is a pastor and she is a stay at home mom.
I had asked her how they "do it" with one income.
I'm always curious as to how people save money and cut costs.
I love hearing how other people live on one income!
She answered it beautifully
"I'm not always 100% sure how to answer it.
God has always provided for us as we continue to walk in obedience."

She asked me how WE do it.
And I told her exactly what she had written applies to our family as well.

On paper it gets tight living on a teacher/coach's salary.
But He provides.

It has been awesome to see how the Lord has orchestrated our move to a new place.
In our old town I had built up quite a few piano students.
And I was watching children on the side.
We were very comfortable.
We knew moving to a new town I would lose all my students and the babysitting kids.
Here's the neat part to the story :)

Travis and I had been praying that there would be an opportunity in our new church
for me to play piano as a form of ministry.
Our old church was wonderful... but very large and there wasn't ever an opportunity to serve in this way.
Our second Sunday in our new town and at our new church we discovered that the church pianist
was retiring suddenly. Like within the next two weeks.
The next day I called up to the church to let them know
I would be happy to help out until they found a replacement.
Long story short... after a meeting with the music minister I became the new church pianist.
Which, as an added blessing was a paid position.
Once people realized I played the piano they began asking about lessons.
I now have my students all lined up for the fall.
Thus provided the exact extra income we had in our old town.

We didn't know how it was all going to work out financially in our new town.
But we did know that this was where He was calling our family to serve and minister.

The theme at our wedding was "Great is Thy Faithfulness."
We felt He had been faithful in bringing us together as a couple.
The following is a song that was played.
"He's Always Been Faithful" by Sarah Groves.
You can find it on YouTube...I highly suggest you listen to it!

Five years later I would say that "Great is Thy Faithfulness" has been the theme of our marriage.
He has been good to provide for our family.
He's Always Been Faithful
Sarah Groves

Morning by morning I wake up to find
the power and comfort of God's hand in mine.
Season by season I watch him amazed, in
awe of the mystery of his perfect ways

All I have need of His hand will provide.
He's always been faithful to me
I can't remember a trial or a pain he did
not recycle to bring me gain.
I can't remember one single regret in serving
God only and trusting His hand

This is my anthem, this is my song, the
theme of the stories I've heard for so long.
God has been faithful, He will be again.
His loving compassion, it knows no end.

Hope you're having a great day!!!
I'll be back tomorrow with a fun little post on the color turquoise...

  1. You DO NOT even know how much I needed that today. I thank God that you are faithful and willing to write a blog that so many read. You are a sweet friend.

  2. Wow thank you for that! We are a one income family too. But we are still praying for the Lord to help provide some extra income. My husband is a Police officer so he's not making too much money especially now since he just transferred to a different position so that he would have MANY more opportunities in the future but that demoted him quite a bit in pay and in positions on the seniority list so we are BARELY scraping by. But the Lord has always provided just enough for us to keep our bills paid. But then we have something happen like me having to have emergency surgery and an overnight stay in the hospital which then takes us back to hardly being able to pay our bills. I know the Lord has a plan for my family but it is so hard to see it right now. My husband does his job because he has a HUGE heart and wants to help people and keep our community safe. He absolutely LOVES his job and that is what matters to us. I want him to be happy and he wants me to be happy and that is why he is allowing me to stay home with our son even though it is so hard for us to make it. I wouldn't have it any other way at all!!! I am faithful in the Lord and know He will provide for us when we need it but right now we are struggling a lot. So this post came just at the moment when I really needed it!! Thank you for this. :) I really appreciate your friendship also. You have helped me the last month since I found your blog!!! I am still struggling with being lonely but I read your email and it always helps. :) I love you for that! Thank you for being such an amazing person.

  3. Love it :) We've been praying a lot about some heavy things on our hearts. Reading this reminds me that God is faithful in all areas, to answer prayers and provide. Thanks for the reminder, girl! :)

  4. amazing blog ... comming from libby's life! also love your love for God!

  5. Aw, I love this...And I love you. And I love that chalkboard art hanging thingie. And I love that God has connected us :)

  6. This is great! I am so glad I found ya... i am a new follower of your blog...funny part is I just found Laura at splendor too!!! Thank you for posting this. The Lord is faithful! I love the fingerpainting pics so pretty!

  7. LOVE it!

My husband has been a teacher and a pastor, and the Lord has never failed to provide ALL that we need for our family of 14. With a dozen children, things have definitely been "tight" financially, but we have never even had a credit card in the past 28 years. Our security is in the LORD, not in our credit report. :)

Even with my husband's unemployment this year, I have felt strongly that I needed to stay at HOME with the children (not find an outside job), and that HE would continue to provide. (Which he has.)

Keep trusting. Keep serving. And ... stay away from credit cards. God is The Provider.

    Laurel :)

  8. I so love this! God is so faithful and He knows all of our needs.

  9. This brought tears to my eyes. He is faithful!! I just LOVE the way our God works!!

  10. Hi Ashley,

I am new to your blog, visiting you from Casey's link up late last week. Thank you so much for this beautiful post; for sharing your faith with the world and encouraging others to trust in the Lord. You are absolutely right: He provides.

I have spent the last hour discovering so many new blogs whose authors share in my faith and love for the Lord. I feel so blessed to have found such an amazing group of encouraging souls here on Blogger!

I look forward to reading along, sharing with you and getting to know you better!

    Have a blessed week!
