My Little Pod

I've been thinking alot about my kids.
My little pod as I like to call them.
Thinking about who they will become.
Who their lives will impact.
Thinking about the training that needs to take place in our home.

Proverbs 22:6
 "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it."Every night right before I head to bed I go in and pray besides each child's bed.
I don't remember where I heard it or if it's just something that is frequently said...
But what resonates through my head constantly is...

If we are not praying for our children, then who is?
This is so true.
Who else will be praying constantly for their protection.
Who else will be praying that they have a peaceful nights rest.
Who else will be praying for their future spouses.
Who else will be praying that their lives impact others for the Kingdom.

John 17:9
 "I pray for them. I am not praying for the world,
but for those you have given me, for they are Yours."

Motherhood is a gift.
My children are a gift.
RAISING my children is a gift.
A hard gift at times. :)
But a GIFT.
A gift that Christ has entrusted me with.

Psalms 127:3-4
"Children are a gift from the Lord;
They are a reward from Him."

That their highest goal in life will be to love the Lord with all their heart, soul and strength.
Children who have hearts of worship and commitment to Jesus Christ.

Big responsibility.
HUGE.

But Praise the Lord we don't have to go it alone.
Isaiah 41:10
"So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
 I will strengthen you and help you;
 I will uphold you with my righteous right hand"

My desire is to raise up children to know and serve the living God.

  1. Amen, sister. I love all the verses you wrote about and the heart you can hear in your writing. I am a mommy and often get worried over my children and their futures. Only the Lord knows, and all I can do is raise them in Him, pray for them, and let them make their choices {but not without some advice from their momma! lol}. Thank you for this post. :)

  3. Amazing post! I pray for my little man every night too. I don't go into his room because it would wake him up, he's a really light sleeper so I do it in my room but I pray for him every night. I am so worried he won't grow up to be a Godly person and it kills me to even think that but I know all that I can do is pray for him and teach him the way of the Lord. All I can do is hope he believes. Being a mom is so hard sometimes but oh how I love every single second of it!

  5. Great post!

    Preach it!

    Our goal for our children was never centered on "what" they would become (career) ... but on "who" they would become "character".

    Our goal was, "to raise up our children to follow their God-given dreams, to pursue their God-given passions, and to seek and serve the Lord with their whole hearts".

    5 of our 6 Big Kids have never strayed from meeting that goal. Our eldest has walked a rollercoaster walk with his spiritual life, but he has never totally walked away from God (just put Him on the backburner for awhile).

    4 of our Big Kids (ages 22-25) have already traveled to 17 countries while serving and ministering for the Lord. Amazing!

    Now, we pray the same prayers, and have the same hopes and dreams for our 6 youngest kids. Can't wait to see what the Lord has in store for their lives.

    Blessings,

    Laurel
