First Day of Fall!

Happy first day of FALL!!!
Did you do anything to ring in the new season!?!
I chose to ring it in by deep cleaning our house and making some pumpkin muffins.  I can't remember the last time my house was this clean.  I just now finished up (it's 9:30pm).  Obviously it'll stay this clean for another nine hours and then be back to it's crazy state.  But for nine hours I will bask in the satisfaction that my house is spotless :)

We had such a good day today.  The kids were in great moods all day and were pretty good about keeping each other entertained.  At one point this morning I peeked into the room they were in and found Emma reading to Colt in the sunshine.  Seeing them happy and cozy together makes me so incredibly thankful that I can be home with them!  Missing sweet moments like this would break my heart.

My current craving of the week is Spaghetti-O's!  I can not get enough of them!!!
Normally I think they taste like rusty spaghetti... but something about that rusty tastes just hits the spot lately!
:) disgusting... I know.

Tonight was my night to teach quite a few piano lessons back to back.  After they were over I loaded the kids up to pick up some chinese from Panda Express.  I ordered crab rangoon, an egg roll and a side of mushroom chicken.  Normally when I order a meal it comes with WAY to much food that goes to waste.

Side Note: waste because I realllllyyyy don't care for leftover chinese..blech.

So, I thought if I just ordered the main side without the rice or noodles there would be plenty of food for the three of us.
We waited in line at the drive through for 15 minutes before we got our food.  I drove away and at the stop light I opened the bag to check what was in it.  Crab rangoon...check...egg roll..check... where's the side of mushroom chicken?  All I could find was an incredibly tiny box that I thought maybe a fortune cookie was in.

Nope.  That was the "side" of mushroom chicken.

Okay, is it just me or is the "side" of mushroom chicken REALLLLYYYY small?!? ha!
(i put it next to the soap for a size comparison)

Do you think it was a joke? I've never just ordered a side of anything from Panda Express before.  Are they normally THIS incredibly tiny?! And the goofy thing was $3 for three bites of chicken and mushrooms. Not even kidding.  So weird to me?  It's like there is no happy medium as far as portions go at Panda Express :)

*I totally felt like a giant eating out of the tiny chinese box...what a crackup!*

Goodnight everyone! Have a great weekend!!!

Cooler weather, New Names, Wimpy and Chicken Potpie

Goodevening!  We had a little reprieve from the Texas heat today.  It was only a high of 90! :)  It's been so sweltering hot and muggy that the 90 degrees felt a tad bit like fall.
Do you realize the first official day of autumn is next week?!?
The only fall decorations that I've put up thus far are on my piano.  My twinkling pumpkin, a jar of candy corn and a DELICIOUS candy corn candle (I bought it this weekend at a craft fair here in town...it seriously is the best candle I have ever smelled!).  I think I'll wait another week or two to finish decorating in hopes that cooler weather will be here to stay!  I'm so excited to buy my mums and pumpkins for the front porch!

I would like to introduce you to my children...

Little Bob on the left and Dot on the right.

:)

For the past month Emma has insisted that her name be Dot. There are times that she'll say, "Emma Kate."
But more often than not the reply is, "Dot."

She has also taken the liberty of renaming her little brother... you can call him, "Little Bob."
His name change took place this morning. ;) She kept talking about "Little Bob."

"Come on Little Bob, let's go play!"
"Little Bob, let's go read a book!"
"Come and sit on my lap Little Bob!"

I asked her who "Little Bob" was and she pointed to Colt and said, "That's Little Bob."

Oh duh...sorry... I forgot that's what I named him at birth :)

One of the many hats that I wear during football season is that of yard maintenance crew.
Trav keeps up with the mowing on his day off.  But the bulk of everything else tends to be my responsibility.
Two summer's ago we planted some perennials alongside our house.  Last summer they didn't grow very much and we thought they would be non-existant this summer.  We couldn't have been more wrong!  The side of our house looked like it was being overtaken by perennials.  It was to the point it looked OUT OF CONTROL!

Since the weather was cooler this evening I parked the kids in the stroller next to me and started hacking away at the overgrown mess.

I learned two things this evening.

Number one: I HATE perennials that grow to be as tall as the side of my house.  Not joking.  One of them had grown up to touch the roof.

Number Two: I am very very wimpy.  The last time I worked out was probably three months ago.  As I sit here typing my forearms and hands are STILL shaking from the physical activity I just had (I finished cutting an hour and a half ago).  How embarassing :)

This was the kids after I finished... notice the pile of craziness behind them :)  Looks like they're in the jungle.

And last but not least!
My friend Amanda was bringing a Chicken Pot Pie over to our friend Melissa tonight since she just had a baby.  I thought it sounded delish and made one for our house as well!

It's just your basic Veg-All Chicken Potpie Recipe.  If you've never tried anything like it don't be weirded out by the use of Veg-All.  This potpie is seriously one of the best things you will have ever eaten!

Chicken Pot Pie

1 (10 3/4 oz.) cans cream of potato soup

2 (16 oz.) cans Veg-All

2 c. chicken, cooked and diced

1/4 c. milk

Pepper and Salt to taste

1 pkg. (9 inch) frozen pie crust, thawed (the package will have 2 crusts)

Combine soup, Veg-All, chicken, milk, and salt/pepper. Place pie crust in the bottom of your dish. Spoon in your filling. Cover the top with the 2nd pie crust. Crimp edges to seal. Bake at 375 degrees for 40 minutes. Cool 10 minutes.

Your family will love this recipe!
In the next day or two I'll post a recipe for an apple cake with butter sauce that is SO incredibly good and perfect for fall!

Goodnight everyone! :)

*Edit- Never trust a pregnant woman. Just woke up this morning and looked at the calendar... turns out the first day of autumn is this week :)  Oops!*

Makeup Basket Revealed

Happy Weekend!!!

This was our off week for football so Trav has had the weekend off with us! It's been such a blessing to have him home an extra day and a half!

I love knowing the details about other people's lives.  Whether it be what they eat for dinner, what they buy at the grocery store, their favorite anything, what their daily schedule looks like... you name it and I love to know!  Some might call it nosy... I call it inquisitive :)

I have seen several posts around blog land where ladies share what's in their makeup bag.
So, that's exactly what I'm doing today!  Just in case anyone else is inquisitive nosy like me :)

_______________________________________________

First things first... I don't use a makeup bag.  I prefer to use a basket to keep my makeup in.  That way I can see exactly where everything is when applying.  Whenever I travel I simply throw everything into a ziploc bag.

All the makeup is in crazy order so bare with me.

Also, it should be known that I do not spend alot of money on my makeup.  The only time I ever have was when we were first married and living off of two incomes.  I then bought Clinique for about half a year.  And in my opinion it was just the same as what I am currently using!

___________________________________________

Green Smoke Eye Shadow by MAC- My sister Bekka has a fabulous MAC makeup kit that she acquired through cosmetology school.  I was rummaging through it the other day and came across the perfect shade of green eye shadow!  It's called Green Smoke by MAC.  This is definitely the shade to use if you have any green in your eye whatsoever!

Alot of the makeup that I currently have is Loreal.  The reason behind that is because CVS runs "buy one get one half off (or sometimes free!)" makeup specials every now and then and Loreal happened to be the brand that was on sale when I was stocking up on new makeup.

__________________________________________

Loreal Wear Infinite Eyeshadow- Sand Dune: I love the colors in this set for every day wear.  I think it makes my eye makeup look smooth and finished.

__________________________________

Covergirl Pressed Powder- I have used this stuff for years and years.  I apply it with a brush instead of the pad that it comes with.  I tend to use it more as a finishing powder than a coverup.

_______________________________________

Loreal Voluminous Original Mascara- I really love this mascara!  I've used it for about two years.  It's not to watery... it doesn't clump... makes your eyelashes thicker.  Love it!

____________________________________
Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips in Sunset Strip- This is a fun little bronzer that adds a nice glow to your cheeks!

_____________________________________

Loreal True Match Super-blendable Makeup: LOVE this foundation!  It's not too heavy.  And it's not too light.  When you apply it feels very light and feathery but gives great coverage!

____________________________________

Loreal Visible Lift Line-Minimizing and Tone-Enhancing Under-eye Concealer: It's a mouthful right?! :)  THIS concealer is my favorite item of makeup!!!  As a mom of two little ones and another on the way I feel like I tend to look exhausted all the time.  I really feel like this concealer brightens under my eyes and makes me look a tad bit more alert and awake than I am :) (and no...I'm not getting paid to rave about this product!!! ha!)

___________________________________________

Maybelline Loose Shimmer Powder- Copper Glimmer: I bought this two summers ago on sale at Walgreens and STILL have over half of it left.  I mainly use it during the summer time for a fun shimmery look.  Time to put it up again until next summer!

___________________________________________

So there you have it!  Everything that's in my makeup basket!  Normally I have eyeliner in there as well.  I've just been out for ohhhh about a month now and have yet to buy another one :)

What are your favorite makeup products?!!?  I'd love to hear what they are!  Even if they're not from Walmart or CVS ;)  Does anyone have a favorite lipgloss or lipstick? I'm still on the hunt for a good one!

Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!  Goodnight!

Who's there?

Obviously NOT me :)

I will be shocked if anybody is still reading this blog at the rate I've been posting lately!
This tiny little person in me has been sucking the energy right out of me.
By the time I finish everything that MUST be done my brain is shot and the last thing I feel like doing is thinking :) Sad but true!

Instead of trying to recap every detail of where we've been over the past week just follow along with some pictures.... okay?

__________________________________________________

I feel like the past week has been spent mainly picking up.  Yes...that's right... picking up.
I'm sure all mothers feel this way but my kids truly feel like mini tornados walking around the house.
At what point do you just give up and stop picking up!? :)

Friday night football!!!
This week's game was extra fun because Trav's sister and her kids were in town to watch with us.
Plus the fact that our boys WON!!!

A happy dad after the win :)

One evening over the weekend was spent at Trav's parents house for dinner and some cousin playing time.
It was fun to watch how they would seperate by size to play.

An attempt at a cousin picture...
the girls were posed and ready and the boys kept falling back and laughing :)

Travis with his Mom and oldest sister Kimmie

And last but not least... a little proof that yes... I am indeed pregnant :)
I'm 13 weeks but my stomache seems to have exploded!  I guess that's what happens when you have 3 kids within 3 1/2 years.  Plus eating mass amounts of Cocoa Crispies probably doesn't help either ;) (as shown in the below picture..ha)

__________________________________________________

The sweet little nuggets are napping right now.  We'll see how long that lasts since some ding-dong at the city thought it would be a good time to test the tornado sirens multiple times in a row during my children's naptime.  Sheesh, you would've thought they could check with me first ;)

Off to shut my eyes for awhile as well!

I promise I'll check back sooner than later! :)

I've got a few new tasty recipes for the fall that you guys will enjoy!

Good night! :)

The Demolition Boy

Good Wednesday Evening!

It's been one of those days that I am thankful has almost came to a complete end.
You know those days...the ones where everything goes crazy that possibly could :)
The kids were on the naughtier side today, Emma decided to revert back to baby/dog ways of using the bathroom (i.e. in her pants and on the floor... FOUR times...not sure what her deal is...she's been potty trained for almost a year!), there were crazy hurricane-like storms today (seriously remnants of Hurricane whomever) and to top it off my little might man decided to TEAR apart and BREAK one of our living room windows.  Now, keep in mind our house was built in 1883.  The windows are old people.  I mean OLLLLLD.  So, it's not like they're windows made in a newer home.  This is how the scene went down.

I was in the kitchen cleaning up breakfast looking out the window in awe of how the rain was blowing horizontally.  At one point I remember being thankful that we were cozied up inside on this yucky weather day.

Emma: "MOM... COME QUICK!!! COME QUICK..." Followed by shrill shreaking and screaming.

I dash into the living room to find Colt pushing the window screen AND a window pane out onto the driveway (our windows have 6 panes on the bottom and 6 panes on the top).  As I continue to run towards him he rips the wood in between the panes out and quickly pushes out the 2nd middle pane.  He then gives one last shove of the window before I make it over to him.

Now...this is bad.. yes.

But picture all of that going on while the horizontal rain is BLOWING horizontally THROUGH the window into the living room.  Out of control.  All over us...all over the floors...all over EVERYTHING within a four foot radius.

I locked the kids in their bedroom.  Called Travis (was slightly freaking out because it had already been a long morning).  He told me to hang up and put trash bags over the window to stop the rain.  Yes...duh... I should have done this in the beginning... but people... it was out of control.  :) And, in my defense I did pull the curtains so the rain was just soaking them and not the rest of the house.

So that's the story.  We now have a window that has panes made out of a lovely white trash bag.
We are classy.   :)

I am still in awe of how quickly and effectively my one year old son tore apart a WINDOW.
Unreal.  If you need to hire him for any demolition work feel free to give me a call.  I'll hire him out.
Like I said...he's quick and effective.

Amazing how someone so precious looking can be such a little beast :)

*Sunday we went on our first fall picnic... can't wait for more!*

The kids and I spent Saturday evening over at Trav's parents since he was working.
We sat outside for quite awhile while the kids played.
Colt reminded me of a little dog in the grass...he rolled and rolled. :)

*that would be dirt all over his mouth...not an oreo cookie*

Just baked some brownies to end the day.  Think we're going to curl up in bed and watch a movie while we eat them!

Goodnight everyone!

Isaiah 43:2-3
"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.  For I am the Lord the God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior."

I love how much this little boy adores his big sister.
He hangs on every word she says and action she does...even if it usually involves him getting injured. :)
I love that she refers to Colt as her "best friend".
And I really love the fact that they will be getting another Best Friend in March!!! :)

Yes...that is right :) Sweet Baby Number Three will be born the end of March.  We couldn't be more thrilled!  Emma and Colt are 18 months apart.  Colt and Baby will be around 21 months apart.  It's perfect :)

I have fairly easy pregnancies.  No throwing up thank heavens! I've been extremely tired and have had a tad bit of afternoon/evening nausia...but it goes away as soon as I eat.  My bet is that this sweet little one is another boy.  I will be absolutely shocked if it isn't!  I am NOT a meat eater... but with Colt I couldn't get enough meat.  It's been the same way with this pregnancy.  I can't seem to get enough steak, meatloaf, meatballs, pot roast...and did I mention STEAK?! :)  I have eaten more meat in the past 10 weeks than I have eaten in my entire lifetime.  Not an exaggeration.

The one food group that I have avoided is any sort of breads.  I can't stand the smell of a loaf of bread, tortillas, any carbs.  Which is super bizarre to me because I am a LOVER of the carbs :)  I've been eating sandwiches made of turkey sandwiched between two lettuce leaves.  Scrumptious.

And I can't seem to get enough apples, grapefruit and orange juice!  With a side of steak of course!

I went to the dr. yesterday for a sonogram and my appt.  Baby looks healthy and has a good heartbeat.  God is SO good!!! I am so thankful for the three little blessings He has entrusted me with.

So there you have our newest and exciting news!!! :)

Off to take a bath and hop into bed.  I've slept through my alarm three times this week.  So, this morning as I was scurrying to get ready before the little girl I babysat came I told myself that I was going to be in bed BY 10pm this evening.  I have 45 minutes to soak in the tub... sounds perfect!

Goodnight everyone!  The weekend is upon us!!! Woohoo!!!
