The Demolition Boy

Good Wednesday Evening!

It's been one of those days that I am thankful has almost came to a complete end.
You know those days...the ones where everything goes crazy that possibly could :)
The kids were on the naughtier side today, Emma decided to revert back to baby/dog ways of using the bathroom (i.e. in her pants and on the floor... FOUR times...not sure what her deal is...she's been potty trained for almost a year!), there were crazy hurricane-like storms today (seriously remnants of Hurricane whomever) and to top it off my little might man decided to TEAR apart and BREAK one of our living room windows.  Now, keep in mind our house was built in 1883.  The windows are old people.  I mean OLLLLLD.  So, it's not like they're windows made in a newer home.  This is how the scene went down.

I was in the kitchen cleaning up breakfast looking out the window in awe of how the rain was blowing horizontally.  At one point I remember being thankful that we were cozied up inside on this yucky weather day.

Emma: "MOM... COME QUICK!!! COME QUICK..." Followed by shrill shreaking and screaming.

I dash into the living room to find Colt pushing the window screen AND a window pane out onto the driveway (our windows have 6 panes on the bottom and 6 panes on the top).  As I continue to run towards him he rips the wood in between the panes out and quickly pushes out the 2nd middle pane.  He then gives one last shove of the window before I make it over to him.

Now...this is bad.. yes.

But picture all of that going on while the horizontal rain is BLOWING horizontally THROUGH the window into the living room.  Out of control.  All over us...all over the floors...all over EVERYTHING within a four foot radius.

I locked the kids in their bedroom.  Called Travis (was slightly freaking out because it had already been a long morning).  He told me to hang up and put trash bags over the window to stop the rain.  Yes...duh... I should have done this in the beginning... but people... it was out of control.  :) And, in my defense I did pull the curtains so the rain was just soaking them and not the rest of the house.

So that's the story.  We now have a window that has panes made out of a lovely white trash bag.
We are classy.   :)

I am still in awe of how quickly and effectively my one year old son tore apart a WINDOW.
Unreal.  If you need to hire him for any demolition work feel free to give me a call.  I'll hire him out.
Like I said...he's quick and effective.

Amazing how someone so precious looking can be such a little beast :)

*Sunday we went on our first fall picnic... can't wait for more!*

The kids and I spent Saturday evening over at Trav's parents since he was working.
We sat outside for quite awhile while the kids played.
Colt reminded me of a little dog in the grass...he rolled and rolled. :)

*that would be dirt all over his mouth...not an oreo cookie*

Just baked some brownies to end the day.  Think we're going to curl up in bed and watch a movie while we eat them!

Goodnight everyone!

Isaiah 43:2-3
"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.  For I am the Lord the God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior."

  1. He sure is a cutie! And I see you found those shoes I was talking about :)

Thanks goodness we have a new tomorrow everyday! Hope tomorrow is better! I am glad Colt is ok too!

  2. Wow what a day! Days like that always make you happy to put the kids to bed and breathe! We are in Fort Worth this week...just thinking about you since we are in the big state of Texas! Hope today is better.

  3. Oh Ashley :( Is the window fixed yet?? Do you guys need any help with it? I mean not that I like fix windows or anything but still :) I almost dropped by your house this morning but thought maybe you were doing some piano lessons and I didnt want to interrupt! Call me if you wanna get together in the morning, I have a phone, but no numbers :(

  4. Hilarious post, Ashley. I'm glad you all are okay. Your family will laugh about this for years to come! :)
